My husband and I have a four year old son. My husband is the more playful fun parent, which I do get jealous of sometimes. When he is home he interacts with our son as much as he can, but he does work a lot. He likes to “bond” with our son through doing little “pranks”, though he knows I don’t like it. Most of them are just immature, having “water” poured on me, “whipped cream”, toy “snakes”, but he knows I don’t like pranks.

He claims it is just a “boy thing” and he has fond memories of doing the same with his dad, and I’ll be honest, his mom is probably a more fun laid back person than me. I hate pranks. I find them mean and verging on bullying. Last night they did a small prank with a “water” gun, so honestly not that big of a deal, but today i talked to my son about how I don’t like it and why it is important to respect people.

He is starting to get it, but my husband feels like I guilted him. He says I’m being way too uptight and not letting him “bond/be himself” with our son.
