Day 1: I have noticed a strange sensation when I face in the general direction of Florida, and have decided to investigate. I have organized a group of 5 to accompany me on my journey: Carol, Shawn, Gavin, Felicia, and Brad.

Day 2: Having gathered plenty of provisions, we got a ride on a freight train heading east. The contents of our particular car is mainly bedding. Gavin and I are particularly pleased about this, and were more than happy to open a few crates. Carol and Brad have noticed the sensation.

Day 3: The bedding still smells funny from the packaging, but we don’t want to open the car door any wider than we need to. We have rearranged some crates and the lids of the open ones to keep the door from opening or closing. Brad, Felicia, and Carol have eaten all of the Nature Valley bars, and the crumbs got everywhere. I think Carol is the only one who hasn’t noticed the sensation.

Day 4: The train has fortunately stopped. Brad has made little houses out of the Nature valley bar wrappers and has forbidden anyone from disturbing “the elven village.” It took all 5 of us to extract him from the car. I think the sensation is affecting him.

Day 5: After walking 6 miles, we came across a mobile home driven by a guy in his mid 30s who graciously accepted us aboard. We explained our story, and he said his name was Charlie and that he was heading to Florida for a wedding. He also had food with him, so we combined our resources.

Day 6: Charlie confessed to me that he has noticed a sensation after he heard Shawn complaining about not feeling it. Shawn is very jealous, and refuses to talk to any of us. Brad seems to have calmed down significantly. I think sleeping on a converted table helped immensely.

Day 7: It’s been a week since our journey started, and we have finally passed the border into Florida. Charlie said his wedding was in Jacksonville, so he dropped us off after saying our goodbyes. Carol told me that Charlie planned on continuing on to the Sensation after the wedding was over. Shawn has finally noticed the Sensation.

Day 8: The Sensation is starting to be very powerful. It has gotten to the point where it’s hard to think straight. Gavin has confessed that the Sensation is too strong for him, and he hitched a ride back home. Shawn, although new to it, is sure that he can hear the Sensation.

Day 9: Charlie almost drove by us, but recognized my unique backpack made from the bedding in the train car. Shawn thanked him, but he didn’t say anything. He just drove with a manic look in his eyes. Felicia, Brad, and Carol have a similar look, and I can only assume I do too.

Day 10
8:00 am: We’re finally here. The Sensation is unbearably powerful, yet Shawn seems to be drawn to it. Charlie has accompanied us.

12:30 pm: Although none of us were originally wearing white clothes, (which would’ve been dirty by now anyway) Shawn’s shirt seems to have turned from faded scarlet to a pure white color. His jeans are becoming more and more faded as I write this, and appear to be shortening.

2:00 pm: We have made our way into a nice suburb called North Pointe. The trees are a vibrant green, despite it being late September. Probably caused by the Sensation. Shawn keeps glancing upward, and at one point asked me if he heard the melodious choir. I didn’t know what he was talking about.

2:30 pm: We turned the corner onto Capitol Drive when it happened. The sky turned pitch black. A loud voice said indistinguishable words that resonated with power.

2:31 pm: Shawn, who is now wearing a very light pink dress shirt with the sleeves rolled to his elbows, matching shorts, a golden watch on his left arm, and leather shoes, hovers over to a spot about 100 ft west of the intersection onto Gateway PL, chanting an ancient, archaic words in a primal voice. A brilliant electric blue energy has surrounded him, his eyes are glowing in the same color, and his arms have clamped together over his stomach.

2:32 pm: The Sensation is now so powerful that no one can think. Finally, the power ebbs away, and he is gently lowered to the ground, a small, smug grin on his face. He opened his mouth and uttered those all powerful words that I will never forget: “You know I had to do it to ’em.”

2:33 pm: The earth shook violently, throwing everyone but Shawn to the ground. The Sensation has stopped abruptly, and the sky has returned to normal. We rushed over to Shawn, who was standing there, swaying.

2:34 pm: He said that he was fine, and didn’t remember any of the last few minutes. We were shocked, and stood there for a full 30 seconds.

2:35 pm: A car horn broke the spell. We were standing in the middle of someone’s driveway. Charlie cleared his throat and led us back to his trailer, where he started the long drive back home.

Day 11: I don’t think Shawn will ever be the same. His hands are forever across his stomach and he hasn’t changed his clothes. I don’t think this blessing will ever leave him.
