An urgent recall has been listed for a popular apple juice sold at Coles supermarkets with fears it may contain harmful microbes.

Food Standards Australia and [New Zealand](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/new_zealand/index.html) announced on Wednesday that Thirsty Brothers Pty Ltd were recalling the Original Juice Co. Black Label Cloudy Apple Juice in a 1.5L size with the use-by date of October 7, 2021.

The product is feared to have microbial mycotoxin-patulin contamination, which the authority states can cause major illness if ingested.

The [World Health Organisation](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/world-health-organization/index.html) states mycotoxins are naturally occurring toxins produced by certain moulds that can be found in apples.

The organisation said the mycotoxins can cause several adverse health effects from ‘acute poisoning to long-term effects such as immune deficiency and cancer’.

Food Standards Australia and New Zealand urged consumers not to drink the product and to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Anyone who consumed the product and is concerned about their health should ‘seek medical advice’.
