My son has been banging DJ Kendrick Lamar’s new album upstairs for the last few days now, so before you attack me for “not listening to the album properly” – you bet I have. If there is one good thing to come out of the album, it is the acceptance by people that hip hop is worse for young people than racism. This admission only came into light, however, when DJ Lamar used a fake clip from the news saying that “we should kill the police” – obviously a very damaging statement.

I checked the tracklist after listening to learn that the album opens with a “song” called Blood – more proof that the album is about nothing but violence. Later on there is a song called Lust – one of the seven deadly sins. ANOTHER of the seven deadly sins is mentioned just 2 “songs” before this: a “song” called Pride.

DJ Lamar yells cuss words over unpleasant banging drums that just sound like tin cans: no surprise given that the name of the album is a cuss word – and the album features many cuss words *worse* than the album name. The album is not saved when Bono comes in with the ol’ crew in the “song” called XXX, but if I had to say there was a best part of the album it would be this. On the last song, DJ Lamar *admits* that he is friends with a man called Anthony – a man who murdered his own father and then stole his chicken.

And you know what’s worse? Probably the only reason DJ Lamar is friends with his dad’s murderer is because his dad told him to listen to *good* music with *real instruments* and a *real message*… And DJ Kendrick did not listen.
