I mean, you can get the answer to many things by looking it up quickly

yeah so you guys keep saying. i did the man ifconfig. took more than 5 minutes to read the first page (which you guys would understand if you had the ability to actually imagine being OUTSIDE your head, in the head of someone else with ZERO clue about this stuff.) Then I realised i couldn’t even get to page 2. I could have asked, buy you would probably have told me to look up the manual for how to work through manual pages.

i will leave you to proving your point to someone who has time to play your game (that’s yourself by the way). when you grow up, you may realise there are times when you need a fast and effective outcome, without a degree in the fucking underlying technicalities. like when you take your car for a repair, and the grease monkey wants to fluff his chest about his topic of interest and says “you really need to read this book about how an engine works, so you really know what you’re playing with when you drive your car to get milk and eggs”. I hope you listen to him when that happens, and sit and learn all about shit you dont need to know in order to just drive the car. Of course that won’t happebn, becaue the grease monkey, probably dumber than you by far, but bright enough to recognise the fact that people just want shit to work, and when they are all grown up with families and businesses and shit loads of other crap to deal with on a daily basis, they don’t get the luxury (nice as it would admittedly be) to sit and geek out with donuts on a topic they won’t need to know about again, IF they just had a command to type or script to run to DO what they need to do, and what they have like 5 MINUTES to set up. i am well used to this now.

It’s a thin veil of pretence of “helping” (but only YOUR way), when really you just want people to join you in your hobby and chosen interest. I dont have time, thanks for the invitation though. You don’t truly understand “i dont have time”, as proven by your comments. you THINK it means “i can’t be bothered”. And this the gateway assumption which allows you think “if you want help, you must do as I say”. That ain’t help. no matter how you spin it, it just isn’t. On tghe other hand, this is – https://osxdaily.com/2008/01/17/how-to-spoof-your-mac-address-in-mac-os-x/

Now that is a GENUINE “5 minutes” read. Oh, and I goit what i needed, without ego combat, without being told what to do, or judged for what I do and don’t have time for. There was me thinking just asking direct would be faster, my bad. I am off, I have some clothes to wash but there is one component on the PCB on my washing machine I haven’t fully got to grips with yet, so I am going to an electical college for a quick PHD in that, so I can get the lasagne off my best shirt. (Yes yes, I will cover molecular biology and chemistry before I turn it on, dont worry!)
