I don’t think Sweetle from the 2008 Xbox 360 game *Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise* is a bugsnak from the 2020 multiplatform game *Bugsnax.

it does not have transformative properties, and bugsnax can only come directly from Snaktooth Island anyways, so there’s no possible way for him to be a true bugsnak. Whilst it’s true he’s kinda bug and kinda snak, and you can try to catch him in your trap, you can’t feed somebody and see we are whatever we eat, therefore we can’t definitively say yes or no.

However, if you want to get especially technical: bugsnax, whilst known to show aggression to one another, do not consume each other because they’re one and the same entity. Also, we know from the ending that if a bugsnax dies, they transform into goop. Sweetle transforms into clean sweets upon death, because it is a piñata – bugsnax do not have insides. Yes, some bugsnax form larger snax by combining themselves, but that’s not the case with Sweetle.

Also, bugsnax want to be eaten and evolved to be as appealling and edible as possible, whilst piñatas dont have any interest or motivation to be eaten. This confirms they’re at most distant relatives because they miss the key psychological factor that bugsnax have to reproduce. In fact, bugsnax reproduce asexually, whilst viva piñatas mate in pairs using specialised housing and mating rituals – some species can divert and have asexual relatives, yes, but bugsnax reproduction is a key element in their uniqueness.

All in all, get celystixed, you squeeb.
