alright so i’m just gonna get this off the ground here now while this thread’s young, but we, the mod team, have decided going forward that we will no longer be allowing Weezer to be posted to the subreddit. while we’ve allowed them for a while due to a sort of unspoken grandfather rule, it’s clear that from the various post reports we get and the type of discussion/discourse the band gathers (plus the whole being on a major and being plenty popular since the beginning of their careers), it’s become clear to us after a number of discussions that it’s time we lay Weezer-posting on /r/indieheads to rest

we will be allowing this thread, /u/VietRooster’s [ALBUM DISCUSSION] thread for this album, and /u/pulsivesilver’s [Indieheads Review] thread for this album to go up, but going forward we will no longer be allowing [FRESH] posts and news posts from Weezer and its members

thanks, the mod team

edit: hey I’ll explain this further real quick by asking y’all some questions.

have you ever seen a [FRESH] music post from Fall Out Boy? what about Panic! at the Disco? Imagine Dragons? no? then yeah those are groups I lump Weezer with at this point. we allow plenty of bands and artists who are on majors, as that’s barely a factor, it’s the fact that Weezer is an alt/pop radio crossover type of band at this point and I don’t see them wanting to change that
