The civil war was cringe because now every time people mention states rights they think of slavery instead of other rights like marriage rights. Before the Civil War everyone likes to talk about, there was the civil war in Utah called the Utah War where Mormons and US military clashed and one of the reasons for this was the issue of polygamy where one man can have multiple wives. To this day it’s still a criminal act to have more than one wife even though it’s socially accepted both in Mormonism and Islam. It’s extremely frustrating that the LGBT got their marriage rights before the Mormons did even though the Mormons fought for their rights since the 1800s as opposed to the 1960s and only recently have there been talks to decriminalize polygamy. The same hypocrites who claimed to be of Christian faith that denounced the mormons for this act forget that King Solomon and several other religious figures of the old Testament had many wives too and at the same time would rather defend the act of slavery (even though one of the key things Moses did was free the slaves) instead of the right to polygamy.
