Not all Italians are “white”, we in the south are a mixture of Mediterranean phenotypes between Italians, Greeks, North Africans and Middle Easterners. Therefore in Italy the northerners are “white” because of completely European genetic and phenotypic origins, while in the south we are a mixture and with extra European genetic origins, so there are those who can be considered “white” and those who are not. But since we are all really mixed and therefore there is no one genetically completely European in the south (many have so-called “afro” hair, which is completely absent in European genetics), we consider ourselves simply Mediterranean, because it would be the correct term of our phenotype. So no, the boy in the video IS “white”, but not ALL Italians are. Because this is reality, we southern Italians are a mixture of Mediterranean phenotypes between Italians, Greeks, North Africans and Middle Easterns. And this due to the countless migrations/colonizations that have taken place over the centuries. Migrations that took place before and during the Roman Empire being that all the peoples Latinized by the Romans were free to move within the empire itself as and when they wanted, a bit as it happens today within the countries adhering to the European Union , and that therefore the greatest influx of migration took place in the fulcrum of the empire, that is Rome or more generally Italy. Reason why different Roman emperors were of North African or Middle Eastern origins, such as Settimius Severus who was of Libyan origin. Or of the various colonizations, as by the Phoenicians, Carthaginians and finally the Arabs, North Africans in turn Arabized, becouse first Berbers. In fact, we Sicilians, before being Latinized again, were Arabs for 300 years, precisely because they were Arabized by the Tunisians and who renamed Sicily “Al-Siqilliyya”. At that time a hybrid Latin-Arabic language was spoken, more precisely Sicilian-Tunisian, a language still existing and spoken as an official language on the island of Malta. In fact, you wont even know of the fact that in the early 1900s in northern Italy some lagers were established for us southerners, precisely in Fenestrelle (Piedmont), as they were considered inferior due to this genetic mixture of ours. Not for nothing in Piedmont there is still a museum (Lombroso museum) with heads of beheaded southerners and with a lot of transcripts on why we would be racially inferior. Still today there is this form of racism in Italy towards us of the south, even if in a less marked way, but many define us: terroni (slaves), Africans, mandarins (synonymous with Arab, because the Arabs brought citrus fruits to the south during colonization), Bedouins, Moroccans, etc., etc., etc. So with all that we have been through, and with the discrimination we still suffer today, as of the kind that we are told to implode the two great volcanoes so that we can get out of Italy, that is Vesuvius and Etna, we only miss you foreigners who don’t know all this to tell us what we are or what we are not. It is our whole life that they tell us what we must be or not to be, which many in the United States when they emigrated did everything to be able to become “white” in the eyes of the people… but today there is no longer any need to have to force to be seen as “white” to be accepted, everyone is what they are, and we should not be ashamed or hide it.
