Some background: I (17f) love Reddit. My favorite sub is by far r/woooosh. I often times r/woooosh people in my life. I’m a wooooshicopter at times. “Woosha Woosha Woosha Woosha” is the sound my neighbors would hear if my theoretical wooshicopter were not me transformed into a vehicle but rather a vehicle that I drove to the Charleston r/wooooshing Academy.

Anyway, my grandma (74f) is a devout Christian who was recently diagnosed with terminal breast cancer. At first she was very distraught, often breaking down and crying at mention of death. When I went to visit here last week though, she was content and at peace. It turns out, she had been reading up on near death experiences and was convinced that certain commonalities such as seeing a bright light and loved ones were proof of an afterlife.

I chuckled at this, and proceeded to explain to her the many viable scientific explanations for this phenomenon, complete with scholarly sources.

“Gee Gran,” I said, “looks like you got r/wooooshed!”

I grabbed my tongue and yanked it out of my mouth. It began to spin like a helicopter blade. “Woosha Woosha Woosha Woosha Woosha” I panted as the propellant force of my tongue lifted me off of the ground and out of the hospital room.

She died later that night, and the nurse said she went out fighting, wailing about how she didn’t want to die and wasn’t ready for the darkness. I’m not sure what set her off, but I think my Reddit knowledge may have intimidated her? Perhaps she would have calmed down had I explained what Reddit was and what r/woooosh meant. What do you guys think? Am I the asshole?
