Within the context of anthropology, there is the stick and the rope. The stick was the first tool, and was used to harm others and keep things away from us. As humans evolved socially, the rope (or strand) was created, and humans could use that to keep close the things we care about.

MGS was a stick-type game. That means only Neanderthals like it. People that solve their problems by hitting it with a rock are the kind of troglodytes that enjoy MGS.

Only cultured and evolved homosapiens can appreciate the strand-like gameplay of Death Stranding.
