On Febuary 23, 1923, Jimmy Neutron Boy Genius was convicted of riding on a train without a ticket near Tallahasse, FL. His parents sent him the $25 necessary to pay the fine, but the judges sentenced him to 7 months of peonage labor. He was sold to the Mill Creek Lumber Co in Sand Creek, FL and after failing to yield a proper amount of harvested wood, his foreman master lashed him 59 times on the back with a Rio Grande Camp Whip, killing him instantly. The body was soon found and the case made national headlines. The Mill Creek Lumber Co was found not guilty and was allowed to continue operating. Peonage was abolished by President Lyndon Baines Johnson in 1966.
