now then about paranautical activity This game is a roguelike/lite. Disagree all you want with that, but it’s a fact. The game takes place in a world randomly generated, with random items and enemies, Where you traverse down a dungeon to a goal, and there is permadeath. Almost ALL roguelikes take place on a grid, so that the game can easily generate the world. in order to do a proper 3D roguellike, it needs to take place on a x/y/z grid. the easiest and most efficient way of doing this, is with voxels. when a game has voxels, the blocky graphics fit the style, so they get used.

as for other games such as guncraft or ace of spades, again the voxel style, is done for the gameplay, so that the environments can be destroyed.

I’m sick of people seeing voxels, and instantly think it’s only done as a gimmick, and not for function.
