I was at a bachelor party this weekend…Friday night while waiting for everyone to arrive, we were playing beer pong and taking turns picking an artist or album to play. When it came to my turn, I threw on “The Baby Huey Story: The Living Legend” and everyone gave it a resounding thumbs up! We ended up listening to the entire update.

Super stoked I grabbed the RSD day release. It’s really one of those albums that stands the test of time. So funky, groovy, and well produced! I only wish he had the opportunity to make more music.

Also, had a life changing experience Saturday…I took LSD for the first time. Completely blew my shit out of the water.

Music played a huge part in the experience. We were at a cabin which had an elevated back deck with a view of a forested area with limited views of houses or building. We sat out for about 3 hours listening to music and watching one of the most dramatic sunsets I’ve ever seen. Tons of clouds, dramatic lighting that was changing colors and tones all the time.

First song I turned on was “Morning Dew” from The Grateful Dead’s Europe ’72. It was so beautiful and perfectly fit the mood. Followed that up with the first few tracks from Live at Luther College and then the first few tracks from Led Zeppelin II. Next up, we listened to “Sargent Peppers” cover to cover, where I peaked during “A Day in the Life”. A few Dark Side of the Moon tunes including the most amazing listening session of “Great Gig in the Sky” rounded out the first 3 hours….I have a new appreciation for the emotional connection music can deliver. I have trouble making emotional connection to songs through lyrics or during moments of tension. I’m more of a vibe/jam type of person that listens more to the instruments and the tones than the words…so to have the opportunity to listen to music and feel that emotion was really eye opening. I’ll never listen to music the same way again.

On another vinyl note -> Snagged a copy of Slightly Stoopid’s “Chronchitis” off Amazon for $10 and it showed up today! Grey pressing 3-sided LP with side 4 etched. Excited to take it home and spin it.
