One of the most complex shows in children’s Television Teletubbies is getting a Shonen Jump anime series in 2020. The acclaimed PBS drama, which featured gay Tinky Winky, the black Dipsy, the girly La-La, and tomboy Po, will be getting a violent anime series next year and will be the heaviest Shonen series ever, being almost Seinen. Showrunner of the Teletubbies anime says “I was an Elementary Schooler when Teletubbies came out and people made fun of me for watching a show for babies, but I told them that it had the most sophisticated storytelling ever made. I remember one episode had Tinky Winky losing his purse and he got really sad and when the Teletubbies didn’t let Dipsy playing with them because of his race. I also remember the time when Tinky Winky’s voice got deeper and there was one time where Po fell in love with a girlfriend of her’s. The show broke new ground and got away with so much stuff. I wanted to make a new Teletubbies show but instead have it be an anime and the company agreed and allowed me to do the anime”. The show will be in the Shonen Jump Magazine in 2021. The show will be about the struggles of Tinky Winky, as he has to say goodbye to his childhood as he’s becoming an adult and he had to leave his lovely purse behind. His friends do the best they can to help him. They’ll also be some evil villains and some heavy dramatic moments with the government. Teletubbies: Goodbye Childhood will debut in Q3 2020.
