1. For Legendary (red) items, if we again ignore synergy based items, I would go with… Shattering Justice. Alien Head is a close second, but I digress. Shattering Justice’s effect takes a little bit of unpacking to do. “Reduce the armor of enemies after repeatedly striking them”. By putting some numbers to it, if you attack an enemy 5 times (each hit being within 2s of the last one), they’ll take more damage for 8 seconds per stack. The Wiki notes that the average damage increase is around 38% for regular enemies, and 55% for boss enemies. I could delve deeper into the subject of Armor and damage reduction, but this post is long enough as is. For Boss (yellow) Items, what you get is what you get due to their rare chance to even drop from a teleporter boss. However, in the imaginary event that you could be receiving any Yellow at a given time, I would say that Mired Urn is the best standalone item. It works effective as a life steal. When you “enter combat” (using an offensive skill, like a Primary), the nearest enemy in melee range (the same range as Focus Crystal’s boundary!) is latched onto. This affliction slows them down by 50%, helping to keep the enemy in your range, while more importantly draining them of health every second. You heal every second equal to damage dealt this way. It’s quite handy! For Equipments (orange), I’m tied between the Royal Capacitor and Radar Scanner. The Royal Capacitor is simple, a lightning bolt is called down to strike a single target for massive damage, with a very short 20 second cooldown. Interestingly, the bolt has a very small Area of Effect for its damage, so a group of enemies tightly clumped together can all be taken out by the bolt. The Radar Scanner is much better for novice players after the latest update buffed it. Covering most of the map in one go, you can temporarily reveal the locations of any interactable and learn what type of interactable they are. It’s extremely useful for learning maps early on, and route planning, which is very important for the time-based difficulty of ROR2.
2. And lastly, we have Lunar (blue) items. The first thing to note going into purchasing these is that they cost Lunar Coins, a much rarer and global currency available in the game. The second thing to note is that every Lunar has a benefit AND a drawback with the exception of the Beads of Fealty. Those notes in mind, a good standalone item is the Focused Convergence. The benefit to it is faster teleporter charge time. Normally, the teleporter takes 100 seconds to charge at minimum. With up to 3 FCs, that’s just under 50 seconds, which is over 50% of the timer. The drawback? The teleporter’s charging radius is decreased for each stack of FC, also up to 3. This means that to play optimally, you have to work with a confined space. This challenge is more suited for adjusted players or players practicing for the second Eclipse modifier. Focused Convergence also affects the radius of the Void Fields’ Cell Vents, and the Commencement pillars!
3. I think that’s every item tier, at least until the DLC expansion comes out. I’m trying to work on being informative and educational to players in this case, so let me know how I did! If you have further questions, also drop them in the comments or replies!”
