I was going to write a big long text post, but, to summarize:

• Great furry artists that make visually-impressive art that’s more internet accessible than other “modern art” forms.
• Incredibly inclusive and supportive community that’s majority-LGBT.
• In a world so serious all the time, it’s nice to relax and goof around in a big, warm fursuit.
• No capitalistic or big business interests that you would find in a franchise fandom like Jurassic Park or etc.

Thank you for being honest and just saying “I don’t know.” Many young and old people go “I don’t know, so, it must be bad. I get to make assumptions.”

I’m getting a degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, and AI. I’ve already done a few jobs in my field before my freshman year of college. I’m at my uni on two scholarships, potentially more, next year. My parents are proud of me, but, they’re quite older, and I don’t know when or how I’m going to explain why I’m going to these three day long conventions, and how it’s because I’m irresistibly attracted to the furry fandom and what that is. Initially, I was concerned what my friends would think of it, but now I’ve gotten to the point where I don’t care and I just want to enjoy myself, and I’m finding new friends with similar views like that.

I went to my first convention last weekend in my hometown, and I still lack the words of how happy I was then and now. I was smiling the entire time I was there, and I can’t wait to go to another one.

I can explain the general reasons why people like it, but, there’s a nuance that’s harder to get across in a subreddit of John Cena–I mean, potato salads.
