Not to be political or anything but what in the world is oatmeal? Is it a meal made completely of oats? Or is that just the name, furthermore why oats? Oats are in lots of things so why get rid of the things that make it more interesting? Why does oatmeal feel so entitled as to think of its self as a “meal?” surely it’s a bit dumb that of all things something that looks like it’s melted ice cream gets called a meal. I’m sure plenty of people think of cereal as a meal but it’s not called “cherriosmeal” thinking about it oatmeal seems like cereal with extra steps, you take a pot, very similar object to a bowl, you fill it with water or MILK, you let it boil and then you add the oats from the tin of oats and stir. So as you can see it is cereal with 2 extra steps. I mean it looks fricking weird like if you were to take cereal, chew it, and spit it out, and people find that appealing!? It takes time to prepare and you need to sometimes wait for it to cool down. Don’t try and tell me that you can put fruit in it cause you can put fruit in everything, you know how many breakfast foods have fruit in them! Y’know what? According to this article, Scotland heckin worships the food and holds a contest every year about it every year. I respect that they have their own traditions and that they call it porridge but like, why oatmeal? I feel the only reason that it stays relevant is that it’s cheap, a container of oatmeal cost roughly $4 and this particular tin says that you can make 30 servings, that’s about $0.13 a serving and thirty servings can last you nearly a month, cereal, on the other hand, does have fewer servings per container and most people will eat more than one serving each day but I feel if you don’t make more than one serving size when you make oatmeal than it’s to much work to get more, so there, oatmeal gets a point. Also, the earliest traces of oatmeal lead to about 2,000 B.C. so the second point for oatmeal.
