Harrison Bergeron really speaks to the heightened notion of equality in today’s society, taking an innocent and fair looking idea to the extremes. The short story documents a day in the life of George and his wife, Hazel. George has been equipped with an earpiece that periodically disrupts his thoughts in order to keep him on he same intelligence as other simple people such as Hazel, who aren’t able to think enough to warrant an earpiece. However, with the introduction of their jailed son, Harrison, it is revealed that he is so strong and intelligent that none of the best handicaps can stop him. In his entrance on the television station, he is shown tearing off thousands of pounds strapped to himself, a true testament to his strength. He then begins to dance with the most beautiful ballerina in the room, executing the dance with absolute grace. However, their dance was cut short by the Handicapper General, Diana Glampers, who proceeded to execute both of them with a shotgun. In summary, a female president would destroy our country
