I understand, this is a reddit for fans of the show, whether you’re into cars are not, it’s about the actual show. I am a fan of the show, but I’m failing to connect with anyone here, not sure if my interest is unique.
About me: I’ve been into driving cars (racing) since 1996. I was fortunate to live in an area with some curvy roads technical enough to challenge the skills of a driver, and focus on the grip ability of the car.
I really started the type of “cat and mouse” street racing we see on Initial D in 2005, and the local scene was somewhat active until 2010. I wasn’t introduced to Initial D until 2010, and I was blown away by how true it was to real life driving principles.
After that, I really started to push my driving ability more. I became active in SCCA AutoX, NASA and SCCA club racing, Global TT, and LeMons/ChumpCar. In 2015, I stopped organized motorsports simply because my true passion for driving has always been the street. The sad thing is, at least where I live, there is zero interest in this type of thing, esp. from Initial D fans that I’ve met.
I don’t personally understand. I would assume that Initial D would inspire Touge racing in application instead of geeking out about a cartoon, a cartoon about something that is somewhat taboo in real life, I get it. Even still, I feel like I honestly embody the ‘Dream’, and would rather act upon this passion instead of being just a fan. Yet, I have no idea what others see in Initial D (refraining from weeaboo hate rant), it’s objectively a great show, but there’s got to be at least a small number of you guys that honestly put the methods of the show into practice.
Anyways, thank you for reading. Good or bad, let me know what you think!
