It is awful as music, it is awful as a societal construct, it is awful as a propaganda tool used to perpetuate and glorify the worst qualities of contemporary American culture. Rather than writing songs which encourage the lowest common denominator of society to better itself, we simply placate their sensibilities with tired, unoriginal, overplayed drivel which contains no semblance of original thought or thought-provoking subject matter. Country music is awful because the lyrical content promotes the absolute antithesis of intellectualism and human evolution. The utopian vision provided by the lyrical content of country music is one of egalitarianism at its best, and one of regression into an absolute lack of understanding and compassion at its worst. Country music distributors would much rather see you begin drinking at 7am, get in your pickup truck, and drive to your local dirt pile to impregnate someone before noon than even have you consider reading so much as the back cover of a book, much less the pages within. I posit that country music is so widely accepted because it serves as an anthem to the specific subsection of working class proletariat in American society who is too self-absorbed and ignorant to understand that the music is manufactured and perpetuated by the very same bourgeois who keeps him oppressed through the spurious veil of freedom and democracy. Country can further be considered awful due to the otherwise indiscernible glorification of self-destructive behaviors and concepts such as alcoholism, nationalism, racism, objectification, blame-shifting, responsibility-dodging, arrogance, and self-imposed illusory superiority. Country music fuels an entire suite of toxic behaviors and thought patterns, and for that reason among many many others, it is not only awful, but downright egregious.
