I actually liked Kings of Leon when they first came out. I listened to a lot of mainstream Top 40 music. But then, about 10 years ago, my musical interests made a drastic pivot when I discovered a specific band, The Amity Affliction, in the metalcore field of music. And, because of my life’s circumstances at that point, I became obsessed with that band and their music. It was incredibly personal and visceral for me. And, inevitably, my interest in metalcore gradually expanded and my love for it deepened. And I’ve been firmly embedded in my love of this genre ever since. Right now, the metal world is going nuts over a Deathcore band from Russia, called Slaughter to Prevail. They just dropped a new album, Kostolom. It murders in every way imaginable. It’s the kind of album that any metalhead would happily make themselves go deaf listening to, if it was the last thing they were ever going to hear.
