Hey folks. During my time on Reddit, I’ve seen a few posts on self castration. Asking about it, if it’s safe, how to do it, or whatever. I work in the livestock industry, specifically with cattle. I’ve performed castrations before, and have watched thousands of them, so please believe me when I say

Don’t do it. Please don’t try this at home. We use special tools to prevent the calves from bleeding out during the operation. Even with the right precautions, the calves will die afterwards. Self surgery in general is usually a no go in life. I guarantee you don’t have the right tools at home, nor the knowledge of where to cut. Please don’t become another statistic. I saw a post about someone that banded themselves (super tight rubber band around the sack, it dies and falls off) please don’t do that either. The risk of infection is ridiculously high.

Aside from that, you need sex hormones. These animals generally have a life expectancy of less than 2 years, at the most, because they’re produced for food. You have a much longer life expectancy, and aren’t going to be someone’s meal (hopefully).

There are doctors that can do this for you, they know how to do it, and have performed way more of these operations than you ever will, unless you become a surgeon. There are anti androgens you can take in the meantime, until that surgery.

I don’t mean to come off as a know it all, or as preachy, but this is a bad idea.
