If it’s possible for comedy routines to be “too perfect” than that’s Joe Rogan’s problem. He even says on his show that he works meticulously perfecting his script. Building the routine, cutting, editing it for hours until he reaches a final product that’s just right. Sometimes his stand up seems like AAA movie quality in pacing and delivery and somehow that takes away from the mood and comfy feeling of a casual comedy routine. Not that it doesn’t feel natural, the man’s a genius after all and his stage presence is second to none but that’s just my take.
