The problem is that we see countless times that the Pikmin can easily live on their own without a “human” counterpart. This is seen time and time again in all three Pikmin games in which Pikmin you have not yet conquered are seen thriving in their own communes. While the relationship between the Pikmin and Olimar may be symbiotic, it is certainly not mutualistic, for Pikmin are never seen reaping the benefits of Olimar’s adventures, outside perhaps being saved from a Bulborb, but of course, would you say pushing a dog out of the way of a moving truck is a “mutual” relationship?

In fact, I argue that Olimar’s intervention on Planet X has actually completely destroyed its ecosystem and biodiversity. We commonly see the natural food chain on this planet play out, the bigger the species, the more dominant it is in most cases. Pikmin being one of the smallest species we see in any of the games, it’s clear these creatures would likely be herbivores, feasting at the bottom of the food chain. However, Olimar takes these lowly creatures and uses them to absolutely demolish nature’s natural hierarchy. Pikmin, which would likely be casually feasted on by Bulborbs, are suddenly collected in large masses and used to commit a completely genocide of the Bulborb species and any other which stand in Olimar’s way. Olimar is a completely tyrant who has no regard for life which does not benefit his goals. Olimar, using the Pikmin, wiped out the Bulbking as well as the Multiple queens, the Titandweevil, and both the Waterwraith and THE wraith, (Note: The wraith was in Pikmin 3 in which you do not control Olimar, but I argue my point stays the same.) just to name a few. Note these creatures I listed are all final bosses excluding the Waterwraith. They are easily apex predators, and thus to be taken out by a few Pikmin under the command of Olimar truly shows his complete warpath on Planet X. Not to mention all the other species he’s either driven to extinction or endangered while adventuring on the planet, look at Man-At-Arms, a species which evolved enough to develop GUNS! Olimar easily destroyed it using only Pikmin. I think it’s rather amazing Olimar is able to control these very obviously well capable species, considering he’s only barely taller than them and they outnumber him in the millions.

I have no idea whether it was Olimar who managed to turn Pikmin into a war-machine or if it was Pikmin who turned Olimar into a blood thirsty warlord, but either way, with Olimar’s attack on Planet X, I think it’s safe to say that Planet is never going to recover from his and the Pikmin’s path of terror. The food chain has been completely turned on its head. Now, Pikmin, which should likely be bottom of the barrel, easy chow for tier 2 level carnivores/omnivores, are instead the Apex predator, feared by all which dare attempt to attack them. If this goes on any longer, the Pikmin will end up leading a dictatorship which seeks to create a Pikmin ethnostate, not too dissimilar to Nazi Germany’s ideals, with Olimar as its Hitler.
