Many people have dismissed the idea that you are being molested by the neighbor as non-canonical. While the game doesn’t explicitly indicate that you are (to reach a wider audience), it does allude to it, and it certainly doesn’t dismiss it.

I believe the neighbor becomes a member of NAMBLA after the loss of his family, so to advocate for intimate relationships where there is little fear of loss. The neighbor engages in a sexual, romantic relationship with the player character because the mortality rate among children is the lowest among all age groups (children does not include infants; the developers were careful not to make you a newborn).

You’ll notice the game does not end, nor are you locked away, when you’re caught. You’re sent home and end up going back over to the neighbor’s time and time again. The player character makes mischief around the property so to give the appearance of a nuisance to the community, making the neighbor’s reproach seem reasonable and unsuspecting.

The player character goes on to have feverish, elaborate dreams about the neighbor’s house. This is to demonstrate the lengths the player character is willing to go to in order to have sex with the neighbor. As an adult, the player character is traumatized by whatever ended up happening to the neighbor (presumably in prison after being caught) and makes his way back to relive his experiences as best he can.

Here’s the thing. Many dismiss this, but nobody can prove it isn’t true.
