Why does it seem like blacks are so absurdly obsessed with money? Like obviously some whites are too, but I can think of far more examples in real life and online of blacks who act retarded in an attempt to pretend like they’re rich. My black friend is cool as shit and she’s not a thug or anything but even she posts on Facebook about how she’s “making stacks” and how she’s going to be rich and all. She works at McDonalds. She works hard, but it’s still McDonalds. She works like 6 overnight shifts a week, sometimes more.

I’m tired so I’m gonna go on like a personal rant thing k?
She’s basically selling her life to them even though she doesn’t need to yet because she’s not yet supporting herself and she’s still in college. I taught myself to DJ, marketed myself, and now I’m making about 3/4ths of what she does (she’s pulling in nearly 2k a month from McD’s) working one night a week usually for like 4 hours. Like that’s not spectacular but I started in October and I work less than 1/5th of how often she does, and she always gets on me about how I need to get a real job and shit and always tells me I need to stop spending my money on useless garbage. Last thing I bought was an umbrella for $20, like last month, because I lost the one I had last year and it’s about to be spring/summer, and obviously that’s when it rains a lot. Before that the last things I bought were all bits and pieces of my DJing equipment and marketing materials like a banner and business cards. I go out to eat less than once a month. Meanwhile, we go to the mall and she spends $70 on clothes I’ve never seen her wear, gets her nails done weekly, and she goes out to eat almost every day. I’m the one who needs to stop spending money?

It’s admirable that she works so hard but goddamn she’s not smart about her money at all, and she acts like she’s the Jesus of money because she works herself to the bone at McDonalds when she could easily find a job that’s both easier and pays better. I’m going to be a substitute teacher next semester, for example. She could do that. My roommate works at a fancy bowling alley. They’re short-staffed. She could get a job there in a heartbeat, and they pay about $3 more per hour than she’s making at McDonalds for their starting sallary with ~$1 raises every 6 months.
