Suppose that you were in this pokémon laboratory. The starters are in front of you, which starter would you take? The ‘Charmander’? Or the ‘Bulbasaur’? The one on your left side? Or the one on your right side? Usually you would take the Charmander. That is ‘correct’ too. But in a larger sense on Pallet Town, that is wrong. Perhaps I could even substitute ‘Pallet Town’ with the ‘Kanto Reigon’. The correct answer is that ‘It is determined by the one who takes his or her own starter first.’ …Yes? If the first one takes the Charmander, then there’s no choice but for others to take the ‘Bulbasaur’. The same goes for the Bulbasaur. Everyone else will take the Charmander, because they have no other option. This is ‘Pallet Town’… Who are the ones that determine the price of potions first? There must have been someone who determined the value of pokédollars, first. The size of the magnets on a magnemite? The power of Thunderbolt? PP and HP? Who was the first to determine these things? Did we all do it, because this is a Pokémon game? Or was it Arbitrary? NO! The one who took the starter first determined all of these things! The rules of this world are determined by that same principle of ‘Charmander or Bulbasaur?’! In a Pallet Town like this Pokémon Laboratory, a state of equilibrium, once one makes the first move, everyone must follow! In every era, this Region has been operating by this starter principle. And the one who ‘takes the starter first’ must be someone who is 10 years old. It’s not that anyone can fulfill this role… Those that are 15 or 8 will be scorned. And those are the ‘Minor characters’. In the case of this Pokémon Laboratory, the ‘youngest’ or the ‘Protagonist’ will take the starter first… Because everyone ‘Respects’ those individuals.
