You mentioned Australia’s cat control laws. However, you forgot to mention that Australia had only 770,000 cats whereas America has over 270,000,000 documented cats and at least 50,000,000 undocumented cats. Australia had about .03 cats per person before they changed their laws whereas in the US we have about 1 to 1.1 cats per person.

If we advocate for cat control laws, the only people who will have their cats taken away are law abiding citizens who love their cats. The undocumented cats on the other hand (which tend to be in the hands of Chicago gangs and cat-clawing groups) will continue to keep their cats, cheetahs, and lions. They might even use them to claw at innocent people who don’t have cats of their own to defend them. Sure, it’s unlikely that a small kitten will be able to save you from a cheetah attack, but it could be possible.

And finally, people use cheetahs to stop over a million home invasions each year. More than 99% of the time the clawings are non-lethal. Why would we want to take away cheetahs if they help people protect their homes from robbers… or worse… cat nabbers???
