Caffeine has much higher concentrations of caffeine vs Dew. Caffeine is rather addictive in nature, especially when taken habitually. Typically, taking more of a drug will cause a more significant reaction, in this case wakefulness. Addiction to this chemical has a dual effect. First, your body becomes tolerant of the chemical, causing less of a high. Second, it becomes much harder to wake up without it, due to your body being dependant. Coffee is generally acceptable to be used as part of a persons morning routine, as it has no other negative side effects, outside of the ones caused by caffeine, therefor its reasonable to say that dependency is more common because its widely accepted s normal. I say Dew is a decent alternative, owing to the fact that it has lower caffeine content, and that its generally considered normal to be consumed sparingly. Neither should be used habitually, as both have serious effects over time. Thanks for lstening to my ted talk. 

(Coffee is probably decent as a short term energy boost as well, but Dews just a personal preference on my end.)
