Put your “good taste” aside. I know a lot of hardcore music fans do not like Eminem. They think his music is melodramatic or corny — I thought the exact same thing not so long ago, but my opinion has changed. This mentality is a mistake; we can get a lot out of his music.

Fantano fans (like myself) love music, and we love music for many reasons, but I personally love music because of the the different ways of thinking and of existing it can introduce us to. Just like a racist teenager who listens to Blackstar can adopt a new perspective and become wiser we can by understanding Eminem and the American underclass he represents.

The transgressive spirit of Eminems music (although at times sexist and homophobic) can help us feel free from the social norms of our society. In a world which (to me) feels more and more socially restrictive, his music is more and more of a blessing. (I’m super pretentious, sorry)

I would seriously recommend listening to his first two albums. I really think that people who aren’t Fantano fans that dismiss him are missing out.

TL;DR – listen to the Marshall Mathers LP you pretentious hipsters!!
