Taylor Alison Swift is everything that is wrong with music. She’s the reason mediocrity has become the norm these days. She is the reason why almost none of the current pop stars have any performing skills or vocal talent, because she allowed the doors to be opened for artists to just write about their silly exes with the most kindergarten esque lyrics you could think off. She stripped away talent from an entire generation of pop girls. And it could have been so beautiful.

Lets start with the obvious: Taylor is the queen of USA. And that might seem like a big achievement, it actually is not. She has gone to the top of that country, and she did it very smartly. Taylor Swift is NOT a musician. Nor is she a lyricist. She is a brand. Since her debut in 2006, she has done everything in her power to create the most safe, bland, marketable and socially palatable albums possible. Every. single. time. Albums that do not push any boundaries, never challenge the status quo, albums that are inoffensive, sketch ideas of perfect or tragic love stories that you’d only see in movies. Not often has she written about the struggles in her life, because she doesn’t have any. She had it easy. She was the epitome of the rich privileged white girl. And it reflects in her audience. Of course, Swifties love to bring up Asia. Oh. How lovely. Just because she has the Philippines and China, do not mean she has the entirety of Asia. That is mass fan behaviour, no GP approval from those regions. The fact remains her audience is the exact same as her music: bland, inoffensive, privileged, always needing to be the victim and center of attention.

In the years since Taylor has debuted, she has, sadly, influenced a lot of artists. And not for the best, but for the absolute worst. She has pushed out a flood of singer-songwriters who have conquered the scene with their simple, cliché lyrics. Packaged in the most safe form possible. No sonic experimentation, no nothing. She has allowed dancing, performing, vocal talent, charisma, iconography to be taken away entirely from the current batch of pop girls with a few exceptions here and there. She has a terrible influence on the music scene. Just terrible. She needed to be stopped a long time ago.

Lastly, she’s not a very good person. She doesn’t shy away from continuously referencing decade old drama in her music, never shies away from making herself the center of attention, pretend to care about women issues until it affects any other woman but her. Loves speaking up about political issues and take a stance when it becomes trendy and necessary to do so. Proving once more, she’s a brand. A cold blooded capitalistic brand. I’m convinced there is no human in her. She has probably trained for this since she was a little girl.

Taylor Swift is everything that is wrong with music and pop culture to day. SHE made mediocrity the norm. She must be stopped and we must find a way to end her career once and for all.
