My brother has never had a girlfriend and is 27. We wondered if he was gay, but I could never picture him with a man. He finally gathered the family to dinner for what was very clearly a “big announcement.” Once we were all there he said this was his “coming out.”

His “sexual orientation” is that he’s only attracted to 2-D women, mostly anime. I started laughing and told him that’s not a sexual orientation. He told me it is, because he’s unable to get a boner with “real” women and finds their “smells” unappealing so he’s no different than a gay guy. To me this isn’t a sexual orientation, this is a guy who needs to go outside and actually interact with people. Finding Gal Gadot to be a 5/10 because she’s not anime (he says her waist is too wide for him) is not an orientation.

My parents are pretty clueless and are accepting this as a real sexual orientation. They think I need to do the same. Am I being a jerk?
