Let’s do a quick character study on who I believe should be the most noteworthy heffley. The Father.

The movies are considered to be a part of the Wimpy kid multiverse, so therefore we may use the testimony from said movies.

First thing we must note about Mr. Heffley is his dark childhood. When having a conversation with his son, Mrs.Heffley mentions how his own father never hung out with him. This implies some Mr. Heffley being a neglected child. The neglect leads to the next evidence we must study.

Civil War: We all assume he loves the civil war for its history, he has an entire collection of “figurines” locked away in the basement, cool hobby, understandably. However we later learn that he does historical battles with a group of fellow war enthusiasts. His face when marching into battle says it all.

He believes he is going to war, not with the confederate army, but himself. He is fighting, fighting to not become his father so much so he brings his own son to a realistic battle, so that he may die (not really) with him. He goes to battle, wishing it were real so that he might end the struggle between good and evil, light and dark, decency and Manny. He hates Manny. He wants nothing to do with him because he sees the evil he could become in him. He sees Greg, praying it isn’t too late. Rodrick is there. Even his wife, is being corrupted by the power that is Manny. Because I have come to the conclusion ladies and gentlemen, that Manny is in fact Grandpa Heffley reincarnated. He has come back to spread the corruption further down the Heffley line.

That is why Mr. Heffley may very well be the only one that isn’t scum, because he at least is fighting the evil.
