I was thinking about what the characters from K-On would do post-graduation, and after doing that for a bit, this is what I came up with for Mio, Ritsu and Azusa. Well, one possibility at least- I’m sure every viewer has their own personal opinion.

This is Akiyama Mio, Tainaka Ritsu and Nakano Azusa working as nurses in a brand-new retirement home. They’re on a break at the moment, and using it to work on a new song. In addition to their nursing skills, their musical ones are valued by the staff and clients of the home, and they play for a crowd when-ever they do.

I figure that being able to make music on the side as more of a hobby than a business could be more fun for them, that’s all. The idol business is a cut-throat one, especially in Japan, and it is chasing a shrinking audience. Being free of monetary constraints lets an artist do what they want. The downside is lack of time to work on stuff.

Japan faces a big problem with an aging population, and new retirement homes will be a key in solving that. I wanted to draw a really new-looking site, so it had to be a bit stark. The longer it runs the more it will feel homey, of course. There’s more to it than just faclities- a helpful and cheerful staff will make a big difference, too.

As for the other characters in K-On, I have no real idea what they’d do for a living. Mugi is so rich she doesn’t have to do much of anything, so who knows about her. Yui is beyond my capacity for career possibilities, too. Maybe she’ll be a star. Who knows with her.

But at the end of all that verbiage, I guess I just felt like drawing this.
