An event that could be considered as an established tradition is that of the annual visitation to the North American International Auto show. This tradition, while not exceptionally long in standing, is most certainly in the upmost enjoyment for all of us; as this practice initially commenced in the year 2012. The general theme for the event is for us to visit the Convention Center during the inaugural Saturday, as this is typically the greatest day of activity in regards to the general populace of the exhibition. And while although the increased liveliness of departing on a Saturday is welcomed, it is often preferable to visit in the earlier hours of the day to get a favorable view of all the vehicles prior to the abundant crowd settles in; and thus waking up on a rather early note is required. This is paramount in being able to capture excellent photographs with the DSLR in which we usually bring along. Being that the spectacle perpetually finds itself taking place during the wintery and glacial Q1 month of January, together with the early morning time frame of leaving, snow often still resides on the ground and a distinct winter breeze is present as we venture out to our destination. Upon arriving at the convention center, one is typically greeted with a variety of different parking locations and spaces; ranging from outside, underground, to elevated facilities. My family customarily choses the parking structure physically connected to the building itself, and this usually results in our car being parked on the roof of the center; and therefore entrance is made from the upper levels down. Upon entering the expansive interior of the architecture, we are greeted by many sights to behold; from the large, vertical glass windows, to the 2nd and 3rd floors that overlook the central corridor. The first stop is routinely that of the admission station, which is conveniently located adjacent to the large showcase gates. Gaining entry to the autoshow floor, one is formally greeted with the immensely dazzling lights and high ceilings of the capacity in which the numerous amount of cars reside; often accompanied by opulent stands with technologic displays for the individual manufactures. From there on, my family and I typically venture out into the unknown and stumble across any cars we may find; and while indeed the venue is large, it is often recommended to take a floor show map as it is rather easy to feel as if you’re traveling in circles. And as such, many happy moments of the day commence; as we discuss what we like and dislike about the numerous cars, while also taking photographs of them. Lunch time will take you to the building cafeteria, in which a rather wide array of food choices is served. Following that, we often go back inside for a brief time period prior to the final departure.
