A few days ago, a redditor by the name of rooster_86 uploaded a gif to the popular subreddit highqualitygifs. Now the gif itself, is nothing remarkable. It contains the usual self-aware and meta humour you’d find on the subreddit. And if what I just said make no sense, don’t worry, it’s really not important, I’m just setting up the punchline. Because the punchline is not in the gif. It’s in the comment section. You see, when you go to the comment section of this gif, you’ll find that just about every single comment is by rooster_86, and there are hundreds and hundreds of comments. He’s making and replying to his own threads. There’s every concievable type of comment. Even the [?] way too long comments and some copypastas, thrown in for good measure. Rooster_86 is satirizing not just the subreddit, but reddit as a whole. It’s quite funny and, in my opinion, kinda genius. And it got me thinking, could this joke format work in another medium, like Facebook or the YouTube comment section? I don’t know. Well, that’s it. Just wanted to share. Thanks for watching!
