I have a whole chest of comics from when I was a kid in the 90s… but I’ve always hated Superman. As a kid who needed glasses I fucking hated that wearing glasses apparently was enough for nobody to realize that hes fucking superman. Like “Oh, hes got his little bitch glasses on so hes all of a sudden not superman”. Hated that. Also hated the fact that hes a cheater. Most superheros have ONE power.. he just gets them all. It’s just cheap and cheating. “Oh would you look at that, hes flying, stopping a 2 mile long locomotive with one hand, having bullets bounce off him… and would you look at that! God damn laser eyes! Gee, good thing he had those!”. And when I started collecting comics, I liked X-men. Wolverine specifically was my guy. Reading DC felt like playing one of those knock off Mario games. Kid Milo or whatever. So occasionally people would buy me comics as gifts and of course the grown ups didnt know what was what. They’d give me that big pack of 20 comics (that I hated because they were just random cheap comics and weren’t going to be worth 5 grand like my X-men 300 and Cyclops Jean Grey wedding were gonna be) which had a bunch of random books and publishers. Getting DC comics just always felt weird. Maybe it was just me and my group of friends, but the 90s seemed like a Marvel time. DC just felt old and dated.

So yeah, fuck superman. Not even gonna take the time to capitalize his name. I actually went out and bought Death of superman comics so I could see him gone. I always got my good comics from the comic store and made sure they were 1st editions (as an 11 year old. Because I needed the good ones to retire on when I was gonna be 20 and fucking old) but I got death of superman from Toys R us as like an 11th run. I didnt even give a shit about its future value, I just wanted to see him die. And I’m pretty sure they were the only superman comics I actually bought with my own money as a kid. I loved Doomsday after that. He was my favorite DC character

Watching Justice League… as soon as he came back to life it was just like any hope of conflict for the movie was gone. I wasnt a huge fan of the movie to begin with but once he was back I just mentally checked out. “Well, their invincible immortal god man is back. Nobody in the universe can beat him. I wonder how this will end for the bad guy”.

superman is the worst
