I’m late so I assume this has already been posted, but your question of course draws my mind to 2012’s seminal documentary masterpiece, Battleship

Specifically I am thinking of the scene when the characters trapped on the island need to disrupt the alien force attempting to set up a communication array, to contact their home planet and enable invasion of Earth.

The heroic and brave amputee Mick C turns and says “how’s your driving skills?”

The nerdy weenie scientist guy immediate is confused, scared, maybe a little hungry – a full range of emotions. And he’s right to feel this way. THis is a dire situation, where mankind is fighting for their very survival. To be thrust onto the front line, requiring some kind of expert driving skills? That would shake the best of us to our core. Also, there’s gonna be confusion, because “how’s your driving skills?” is a bizarre and awkward question, so no man would be blamed for a hestiation. We are all the weenie nerd guy. At least, you guys are.

I am more like the super hot model girl that Mick was always talking to. “Not you,” he says to the weenie nerd, “Sam, how’s your driving skills?” (Sam is the tomboy name for the sweaty and attractive supermodel girl because she’s rebellious and tomboyish but also pretty)

“They’re good,” she say, like King Arthur stepping forward to draw his destiny from the stone of the steering wheel.

(Then, spoiler alert: she drives the car down the hill and unplugs a bunch of cords that will take the aliens at least five minutes to reconnect, saving the world. She also crashes the car so she sort of oversold her driving skills, imo)

This scene, like all of the scenes in Battleship, really was an emotional rollercoaster. Thanks for reading.
