To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to use Durax. His playstyle is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of hero micro, most of his strengths will go over a typical player’s head. There’s also Durax’s glass-like appearance, which is deftly woven into his playstyle – his combat philosophy draws heavily from glass cannons. The fans understand this stuff – they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of his playstyle, to realize he’s not just some hero that spawns more of himself, he’s a full on army. As a consequence, the people who dislike Durax truly ARE idiots. Of course they wouldn’t appreciate, for instance, the layers in his existential catchphrase, I am the one who knocks, which itself is a cryptic reference to Vince Gilligan’s epic, Breaking Bad. I’m smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Ironhide Game Studio’s genius unfolds on the screen. What fools… how I pity them.
