Alright, lets just think about the main character, AKA The Player, from this game. He is basically the unspoken “You” whom you name yourself and never see in the game. All this makes sense. But several things don’t make sense about him/her: Why does he leave the front door (and back door) open? How does he plant plants without ever leaving the comfort of his home? Why doesn’t he simply outrun the zombies when they enter his house? How does he get the excellent aerial view of his entire lawn/roof? And finally, why are the zombies so insistent on finding and eating his brain? Why not move on to an easier house?

Now, some people would just accept these and enjoy the game. But I have a theory that, I feel, answers these nagging questions:

Basically, The Player is a crippled psychic. He sits, immobile, paralyzed from the neck down. Very vulnerable to a slow moving zombie to lumber in and munch on his brains. But his crippled state has left him time to practice his innate abilities. He has developed ESP, allowing him to get a great view of his plants and see what zombie are about to attack him. He also uses telekinesis, which he uses to channel the power of the sun into planting powerful plants. Unfortunately, his powerful brain is not without its drawbacks: He needs to leave the doors and windows open to prevent his mind from overheating. And also, psychic brains are the tastiest. Zombies would do anything for a delicious little taste of that paranormal melon of his.

I think the crippled psychic solution properly addresses all the mysteries surrounding The Player. Don’t you think?
