“There’s no such thing as an involuntary celibate!”

Ah! An honest and excellent inquiry. Please allow me to elaborate:

There’s no such thing as an “involuntary celibate” because anyone who’d identify as such could just trade money for sexual favors. Now I’ve worked with mentally delayed individuals with no money nor the ability to speak, so they could technically be defined as such…

But those I’ve known to make such a claim for themselves can’t, by definition, be an incel.

However, I do understand that such a phrase has taken on a colloquial status, thus bypassing any technical etymology, though I disregard this as mere internet culture.

Yesterday it was “cuck.” Today it’s “incel.” Decades ago it was “nerd.” It’s all just a jumble of ad hominems that amount to nothing more than anonymous bullying and vitriol, and it’s really nothing worth fighting over.

It’s better to just lean into it. It takes the power away from the bully and helps you to move on, y’know?
