Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure is a japanese manga written by Hirohiko Araki in 1987 and it still goes on. But first, who is Araki?

Hirohiko Araki is a Japanese manga artist. He made his debut under the name Toshiyuki Araki in 1980 with his one-shot Poker Under Arms, and began his professional career with the short series Cool Shock B.T., Baoh, and The Gorgeous Irene.

He was born in June 7, 1960.

Before finding out what is JoJo… what is a “reference”?

A reference is the action of mentioning or alluding to something.

But this isn’t enough. We have to go all the way back, when this world was created.

People used to reference animals by drawing them on walls. From that, we got the current way of communication called “writing”.

In the Bible, through the way of communication called “writing” we can see Jesus’s actions being REFERENCED in the book.

Also, Jesus is referenced as God’s son.

Let’s talk about the UNIVERSE.

The universe is REFERENCED as this huge and infinite abomination of stars and galaxies we live in. We might not be the only life forms in this enormous universe. We reference to the other possible lifeforms as “ALIENS”

If these life forms called ALIENS actually exist, do the reference us in anyways? They might be less or more evolved than us, but one thing is sure. THEY DO.

Referencing something is a day-by-day thing you do without even realizing. Seeing is a reference to the organ called “eye”. You technically reference to that organ by using it.

But what is an INTENTIONAL REFERENCE?

For example, the well known American writer, Mark Twain. He wrote the well known book called “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer”.

Through the book, he referenced to his childhood by creating the little boy, Tom Sawyer, which represents him as a child.

The continuation of the book is called “The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn” where he REFERENCES to the other book by continuing it with a new one, showing new actions and having characters present in the old story as well. We could say they are being REFERENCED.

So technically, an INTENTIONAL REFERENCE is a reference done by purpose in order to show something off topic on another different topic.

Now, what is JoJo? The first protagonist is JOnathan JOestar. We could say that JoJo is a reference to the protagonist’s name.

Now, let’s answer the real question. What is a JoJo reference?

JoJo is one of the most relatable mangas in history and it is being referenced a lot due to its popularity.

But what makes JoJo references so funny even though they are a totally different topic than the referenced thing? Well, the answer is simple.

I HAVE NO FUCKING IDEA, OK?
