LeBron: All right, are we gonna have a problem?
KD: There’s no problem. I was just hoping you could give me some insight into the evolution of the championship economy in the early NBA. My contention is that prior to the Heatles the ring modalities, especially of the Lakers and Bulls could most aptly be characterized as Super Teams…

LeBron: [interrupting] Of course that’s your contention. You’re a first year champion. You just got finished some Champagne, Dom Perignon prob’ly, you’re gonna be convinced of that until next year when you get to a second league MVP, then you’re gonna be talkin’ about how the squads of Bird and Magic were entrepreneurial and capitalist back in 1980. That’s gonna last until next year, you’re gonna be in here regurgitating Dr. J, talkin’ about you know, the Pre-revolutionary utopia and the capital-forming effects of the dunk contest.
KD: [taken aback] Well, as a matter of fact, I won’t, because Dr. J drastically underestimates the impact of–
LeBron: …”Dr. J drastically underestimates the impact of social distinctions predicated upon wealth, especially in game dunks…” You got that from Dominique. “The Human Highlight Film,” Page 98, right? Yeah I read that too. Were you gonna plagiarize the whole thing for us- you have any thoughts of- of your own on this matter? Or do- is that your thing, you come into a bar, you read some obscure passage and then you pretend- you pawn it off as your own- your own idea just to impress some girls? Embarrass my friend?
LeBron: See the sad thing about a guy like you, is in about 50 years you’re gonna start doin’ some thinkin’ on your own and you’re gonna come up with the fact that there are two certainties in life. One, don’t do that. And two, you dropped a legacy and the competitive balance of the NBA on a effin’ team you coulda’ beat in the Western Conference Finals the next year with the Public OKC Thunder.
KD: Yeah, but I will have a fistful of rings, and you’ll be stuck with 3 or 4 while everyone forgets about me teaming up.
LeBron: [smiles] Yeah, maybe. But at least I won’t be unoriginal.
