It’s not good enough that it’s new to you (and I do apologize if this seems too targeted at you for a minor infraction – it has been building up inside me for a while). It needs to be new to everyone, or close enough to everyone that “repost” isn’t the goddamn top comment. It needs to be new enough that people who bring OC to the site are encouraged to keep bringing it, and we encourage them by giving them karma and OC to take away and post to other sites, where people who are not on reddit can be amazed, and they can reap brownie points on those sites.

I’m sure there’s someone, somewhere, that hasn’t seen the dancing baby, or heard Chocolate Rain, or seen that startled prairie dog, so let’s just keep posting them, too, shall we? Until every last someone has crawled out from under their rock and said, “ENOUGH!”

In other words, new to you doesn’t cut it. Man, there was a great rant about this a while back by kleinbl00 but I’ve lost it now, and that would be a repost anyway. Basically, stop whining about not seeing everything. You’re never going to see everything. We can, however, ensure that everything you see ISN’T something you’ve seen before, which is a much better proposition. But to do that we need to quit the “crossposting” which is just reposting by another name, and quit the selfish whinging.
