Green Toad was killed August 5th 1967 in a friendly fire incident during the United States’ operation Rolling Thunder in Vietnam. As a result, First Lieutenant Green “Jimmy” Toad was given both the Presidential Medal of Freedom and the Distinguished Service Cross, the highest honors that can be presented by the President of the United States and the US Armed Forces respectfully. Green Toad is survived by his 2 kids (a son and a daughter) and his wife of 9 years. Green Toad was only 2 weeks away from finishing what would have been his 3rd tour in Vietnam with the United States Military. Green Toad was flown back to the United States and laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery on August 8th 1967 with full military honors. Green Toad was only 27 years old.
