It has nearly been 10 years since the original release of CaramellDansen and quite frankly I can’t say that I am disappointed with this blast from the past and delightful treat of CaramellDansen 2018. The girls have got back together once again and are back to create another banger! Unlike previous recent songs such as “saw you standing there” this one takes a much more traditional approach to the CaramellDansen formula by revisiting their most loved song and in some ways improving it! As a long time viewer from Caramella Girls this music video was an absolute beauty to behold! The use of motion tweens and jiggle physics really did give the video the extra bit of magic it needed to become legendary. The music video pays homage to the original video in many ways and the attention to detail from the directors is truly outstanding. The song opens up with Vera (The brown-haired girl) opening up to the song presenting her as the main character – of which she is because she is clearly the hottest, followed by the other two forgettable girls. The Music video keeps many of the original colour pallet but revamped and remade to look more modern and in a better resolution. The girls are also sporting their original clothing and dances just was they were in the older version of the song with some exceptions- such as the just decision to change some dance moves in order to make sure that not as many young children end up in wheelchairs from trying to twist their hips at an angle of 180 degrees. Also, the addition of the lyrics in the music video is a massive step forwards and this is visible from their use of some typography and colouring the words in order to make them fit in with the song or what they are for example “From Sweden to UK we will bring our song” both the words Sweden and UK are coloured using their respective flags.
The Song has been rerecorded and may I say it sounds fabulous! You can tell that they put time and effort into the music and really tried to make it sound truly magical and impressive as this song is their heart and soul and clearly a passion project aimed towards the fans! As mentioned before the video now contains lyrics which is a welcome addition to the song and we can now understand some previously inaudible lyrics for example I never knew that they said “meme” in the song! This really tickles my fancy as I love memes! Overall, I believe that this music video is a huge success and am astounded by their decision to revamp the music video with a new art style and to have everything done so masterfully! This is how you do remakes!
