Fish for a man and he will eat for a day. Teach him to fish and he will eat for a lifetime. Why is this so? Well you can bring your boat to a lake that you know has the fish you desire to catch. Then you can put the boat in the water, get in, and move to a prime fishing spot. You may then prepare your line with the preferred bait or tackle and cast it into the water. Then it is time to wait. Eventually, some fish may bite. You skillfully real in your catches and travel back to shore. There you might see your friend and since you have an abundance of fish you might give some to him. He may then return home and cook the fish that you have provided. However, if that friend wanted more fish the next day he would not be able to obtain it. That is because he does not have the knowledge to fish. He does not know how to operate a boat or what bait to use or even the best spots to fish. Therefore he eats for the day. On the other hand, if you educate your friend on how to fish, he can then apply that knowledge for himself to fish and eat for a lifetime. Clearly, it is beneficial to be educated. However the question arises, what is education?
