Punch-out makes Little Mac out to be some scrappy underdog, this is unfortunately not true when we consider that Little Mac wipes out the fucking HEAVYWEIGHT division at a measly 5’7 and weighing around 107 pounds.

To be fair, Little Mac doesn’t appear to be that light so I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt and place him at 130 pounds or the Super-featherweight division. Now that we cleared his weight class, lets consider his resume.

Obviously Little Mac does have his share of cab drivers and tomato cans like Glass Joe and his measly 1-99 record.

Old Man Von Kaiser isn’t much else to talk about at 42 years old and with a record of 23-13 which is still dreadful for professional boxing.

Those two aside, Little Mac has a brilliant resume that easily tops other boxing greats of today and of the past.

Little Mac has defeated Piston Hondo who has a record of 27-1 and with his only loss coming from Mr. Sandman who we’ll get to in a bit.

Piston Hondo weighs around 174 pounds which we could round to 175 putting him in the Light-heavyweight division. This match-up between Little Mac and Piston Hondo could be comparable to the match-up between Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and Dmitry Bivol which happened on May 7, 2022.

Prior to this fight, Saul “Canelo” Alvarez was considered to be the best fighter on the planet in terms of Pound for Pound. Amassing a record of 57-1-2 (two draws) with his only loss coming to Floyd Mayweather who retired with his well known 50-0 record.

Canelo of course would end up being dominated for 12 rounds and lose by unanimous decision to Dmitry Bivol who was simply too quick and strong. Not to mention, the increase in weight class meant that Canelo’s punches lost their power because Bivol’s body is larger and therefore can take more punishment than the smaller Canelo.

Little Mac on the other hand would knock out Piston Hondo in contrast to Canelo’s bout with Bivol.

While Piston Hondo can’t really be compared to Dmitry Bivol, I’d still say that Hondo would have a decent chance against Canelo due to his weight and reach advantage.

The reason why I’m comparing Little Mac to Canelo Alvarez is because Canelo is the only boxer right now who’s conquered multiple divisions.

Canelo started his career at 147 or the welterweight division and he would go on to become undisputed at 168lbs or the Super Middleweight division. Obviously this is a brilliant feat for the Mexican fighter considering he also won titles in the light middleweight, middleweight and even Light Heavyweight (Albeit against an old, washed and drunk Kovalev who fought about a month ago.) Canelo would later lose against Dmitry Bivol at Light Heavyweight considering that Bivol wasn’t drunk, old and washed like Kovalev was.

Little Mac on the other hand probably started his career at 130 and cleaned out all of those divisions from 130-190. While it is hasty to assume that Little Mac has cleaned out those divisions, why else would he be fighting heavyweight champions like Mr. Sandman and his 31-0 record with 31 KO’s. Let alone the fact that Mr. Sandman weighs around 284lbs of pure muscle.

Simply put, Little Mac has the uncanny ability to deal with fighters of every weight class. In boxing once you go up you can’t go down. Canelo certainly isn’t going to make it back to 147lbs again, he’d probably end up in the hospital if he tried. This furthers my case that Little mac did clear out every division up to Heavyweight.

What’s even more startling about Little mac is his power. While the Punch-out games portraits Little Mac as having no power, this is not true in the slightest considering that Little Mac still KO’s Heavyweights including “Iron” Mike Tyson in his prime.

Little Mac also has KO’s over Mr. Sandman, Soda Popinski, Super Macho Man and Bald Bull who specifically trains his chin to be durable.

These boxers have the following records

Mr. Sandman: 31-0 31 KO’s

Super Macho Man: 35-1 29 KO’s

Soda Popinski: 33-2 24 KO’s

Bald Bull: 34-4 29 KO’s

This would be a good run for most heavyweights to have victories over. The difference is that Little Mac is a lightweight boxer who realistically speaking, would be flattened by any of these guys just by the sheer size difference alone. Instead, Little Mac is able to take uppercuts from Mr. Sandman who has knocked out everyone that he’s fought against, Little Mac has a chin of vibranium.

As for real boxers, I think Little Mac would school Canelo for six rounds before knocking him out with an uppercut. I don’t think Mayweather would last against Little Mac either considering the power that Little Mac possesses. Not to mention that Little Mac has shit-tons of stamina which he could use to wear Mayweather down for a KO in the 9th round.

I’m probably overthinking this shit, I only came to this realization during the shower and decided to write this essay on how Little Mac is technically the greatest boxer of all time.
